Rising from the Storm: Pleasant Home Baptist Church - Mural (Infant Room)

Our latest project is taking place at Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Laurel, MS. As part of the church’s revival, each children’s ministry classroom will be adorned with a unique wall mural, creating a warm and welcoming space for the next generation. Over the last few weeks, Costanza Creations has had the privilege of creating the first mural in the infants' room. The image features a guardian angel which symbolizes protection and peace. This image represents God’s watchful care over the little ones and provides comfort and reassurance to the mothers.

Creative Process - steps involved in creating the art piece

Initial mockups were created by our famous artist Desi Costanza.

The final design was then drawn onto the wall and the painting began.

Many hours of painting and various techniques were used in multiple layers.

Materials and Techniques 

Multipurpose interior texturing medium was used to create texture on the wings and the flowers.

Heavy body interference acrylic paints, iridescent mediums using colour shift acrylics in pearl colors and glaze, and metallic art pens were used to create movement and add shine to the painting.

Challenges and Lessons Learned

• Projector Quality: Our initial projector was not projecting the image onto the wall large enough. We needed to upgrade our projector to get the image the correct size and clarity so that it could be traced.

• Arch Boarder: Ensuring the symmetry of the lines of the arch was challenging. It took a lot of time and measuring so we have decided to make a template for the other projects to speed up the process.

• Lighting: The lighting of the room is not sufficient to display the wonderful iridescent paint used. We have arranged to have a light installed on top of the painting so that the full effect can be achieved.

The Final Piece

We here at Costanza Creations are grateful to be a part of the church’s revival and are delighted to help create wonderful rooms for the Kids’ ministry.
