In this blog, I will take you behind the scenes, offering a glimpse into our artistic approach, inspiration, and the dedication that goes into every detail. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a fellow creator, or simply curious about the journey from concept to completion, join us as we unveil the story behind our newest masterpiece.
A Symbol of Strength and Faith
On April 12, 2020, Pleasant Home Baptist Church in Laurel, MS, was destroyed by a devastating tornado. The loss was more than just a building - the community itself was deeply affected, with many families forced to relocate after losing everything. In 2023, Pastor David Moran arrived to lead the church through a long-awaited revival. After five years of perseverance, faith, and dedication, the church has finally been rebuilt. But it wasn’t just about reconstructing walls, it was about restoring the congregation and the spirit of the community.
Amid the wreckage, only one piece of the original church was recovered - a wooden beam from the roof. This salvaged piece now holds a sacred place in the new church, transformed into a large cross that hangs in the sanctuary. It stands as a powerful reminder of resilience, faith, and God’s unwavering presence through life’s storms.
A New Beginning for the Children’s Ministry
As part of the church’s revival, each children’s ministry classroom will be adorned with a unique wall mural, creating a warm and welcoming space for the next generation. The first mural, completed in the infants' room, features a guardian angel, symbolizing protection and peace. This thoughtful design not only represents God’s watchful care over the little ones but also provides comfort and reassurance to the mothers.
These are exciting times for Pleasant Home Baptist Church. Through faith and unity, the church has not just been rebuilt - it has been reborn. Please join me next week, where I will share more about this project, such as the creative process, materials and techniques, and any challenges we faced. We would love to hear from you in the comments, so feel free to share your success stories or advice. I would also love to answer any questions you may have so get involved and share your comments.
